The criteria to determine if curricula are degree applicable are provided below. Content criteria include
standards of grading, unit allocaton, and rigor. (See Title V California Code of Regulations
CCR.T5 55002(a) for specific information related to this issue.)
Credit Courses Appropriate for the Associate Degree:
- All lower division courses accepted toward the baccalaureate degree by CSUs and UCs or designed to
be offered for transfer credit.
- Courses that apply to the major non-baccalaureate occupational fields.
- English courses not more than one level below the first transfer level composition course (EWRT 1A). No
more than one such course can count toward the associate degree. [At De Anza, this level would include EWRT
100B, and ESL 24 and 72.]
- All mathematical courses above and including Elementary Algebra.
- Credit courses in English and mathematics taught in or on behalf of other departments, requiring entrance skills
at a level equivalent to those necessary for the two bullets above.
